Who is responsible for your information

Cruise Price Check by Codify Limited operates cruisepricecheck.com. Codify Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15861473, is the controller of your personal information. For privacy questions or requests, email harry@cruisepricecheck.com.

What we collect and why

• Sign-in and alerts. We store your email address, verification and session records, device and IP details for sign-in security, account shortlists, chosen sailings, target prices, saved-search names and filters, and notification history. We use these to sign you in and deliver the alerts and searches you request. Our legal basis is performing our agreement with you to provide these features.
• Service and security records. Requests to the site can include your IP address, browser information, requested URL and error details. We use these to run the site, investigate faults and prevent abuse, based on our legitimate interests in keeping the service reliable and secure.
• Visit statistics. PostHog helps us understand page visits, clicks, referral sources, device information, loading performance and errors shown in your browser. Unless you accept cookies, these statistics use an identifier held in page memory and no cookies, and PostHog does not build a profile of you. We use them to find usability problems and faults and to improve the site, based on our legitimate interests. You can turn visit statistics off at any time in the settings below.
• Session replay. If you accept, PostHog records how you navigate and interact with pages, together with diagnostic logs and network timings, and uses a cookie to recognise visits from the same browser. Form inputs and your email address are hidden from recordings. Session replay is off unless you accept it, and our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw below.
• Messages to us. If you contact us, we use your email address and message to respond and keep a record of the issue, based on our legitimate interest in providing support. We also process information where needed to meet legal obligations.

You can browse without giving us your email address. It is needed for sign-in and email alerts. Booking and payment happen on the cruise line's website; we do not collect your booking payment details.

How we use cookies and browser storage

A functional sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days and renews while you use the site. A second functional cookie holds a signed copy of your session details, including your email address, for up to a minute, so pages can confirm you are signed in without a database lookup. Signing out revokes the session and removes both cookies. Before you sign in, your shortlist is saved in this browser. Signing in merges those cruises into your account so you can access them on other devices. If your account shortlist is full, additional cruises remain in this browser until there is room. We temporarily save your email and unfinished forms in browser session storage to help you complete sign-in.

Session replay and analytics cookies stay off unless you accept them. Accepting lets PostHog record sessions and recognise visits from the same browser using a cookie and local storage. Before you choose, or if you reject, PostHog collects visit statistics only, with an identifier held in page memory. That identifier is lost on a full page reload or when you leave. You can turn visit statistics off as well.

We save your privacy choices in local storage so the site can remember them. These preference records do not track your browsing. They are separate from optional analytics identifiers and the storage needed for sign-in and your shortlist.

Your settings apply to this browser. Changes do not affect earlier processing or erase events and recordings already sent to PostHog; email us if you want those deleted. Clearing the site's browser data removes local choices and guest saves and may sign you out. Cruises saved to your account remain available when you sign in again.

Shared links and cruise-line websites

Anyone with a comparison link can see the sailing selections and cabin category in it without signing in. The link does not contain your email address, alert targets or account details. Search links can also reveal the filters you chose. Only share links whose contents you are happy for others to see.

Opening a cruise-line link takes you to a separate website under that provider's privacy policy. The provider receives normal connection information, such as your IP address and browser details. Links in fare-alert emails include campaign labels identifying Cruise Price Check and the email channel; those labels do not contain your email address. We do not send your account shortlist or alert targets to the cruise line as part of the link.

Who processes information for us

We use Vercel for hosting, Cloudflare for domain and network services and for database backups, Bunny (bunny.net) for our database, Resend for sign-in and alert emails, Zoho Mail for correspondence, and PostHog for analytics and error reports. These providers process the information needed to supply their services. Email delivery records can include the recipient, message content and delivery status.

Our data is backed up to Cloudflare.

Providers may process information outside the UK. Applicable protections can include UK adequacy regulations and approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for details of the safeguards relevant to your information.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it where required by law or necessary to protect our legal rights. Cruise lines operate their own websites and privacy policies.

How long we keep information

We keep account shortlists, alerts and saved searches so you can manage them until you delete them. Pausing or unsubscribing stops notifications but does not erase the saved record. You can delete individual items from Shortlist, Price alerts or Saved searches, or contact us to request deletion of information linked to your email.

Unused sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Sessions expire after 30 days without renewal. Signing out revokes the current session. Account settings also let you sign out on all devices, which ends access on your other devices within a minute. Routine cleanup removes expired codes and session records. Session recordings are retained for 30 days under our current PostHog settings. We retain support, verification, delivery and security records as needed to operate the service, resolve issues, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the purpose of the record, any unresolved issue and applicable legal requirements. Nightly database backups are kept for 30 days, so something you delete can remain in a backup until then. Provider logs may also remain after deletion from the active database.

Your choices and rights

You can stop an alert or digest using its unsubscribe link or your signed-in settings. To request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information, email harry@cruisepricecheck.com. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where we rely on it. These rights depend on the circumstances; we may need to verify your identity before acting.

We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you through automated processing. Search matching and price alerts use the criteria you choose.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. We will bring material changes to your attention where required.
